UC Developer story + Microsoft Office Interactive Developer Map ver 2

Microsoft announced the release of the Microsoft Office Interactive Developer Map Version 2!

The Microsoft Office Interactive Developer Map is a Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) application that helps developers visualize the different programs, servers, services, and tools that will help them build solutions. It allows them to drill down to each product and technology and learn about new features, objects, Web services, namespaces, and schemas required to extend Microsoft Office and build custom Office Business Applications (OBAs). This application also includes links and pointers to online resources available on Office Online, MSDN, TechNet, Channel 9, Channel 10, and OBA Central.

 

What's New in the Microsoft Office Interactive Developer Map Version 2?

  • Update to more than 200 links to MSDN portal pages, MSDN articles, MSDN reference documentation, blog posts, RSS feeds, and community resources.
  • New products and technologies such as:
    • Office Development in Visual Studio 2008
    • PerformancePoint Server 2007
    • Unified Communications
  • User interface improvements:
    • Top 2007 Office system Web sites toolbar

     

    • Scaling and scrolling to varying resolutions
    • Crisp graphics

Availability

We released this version at the Office Developer Conference 2008 held in San Jose, CA. The application was showcased in different booths and all attendees received a poster version of the Office Developer Roadmap that includes links to download the application.

Announced Winners of 1st European Silverlight Challange!

The '1st European Silverlight Challenge' has ended and all of the participants did a pretty good job. However there can only be one winner who will become Europe’s Best Silverlight Developer 2008. The Winner and the first and second runner-ups will be awarded with a trip to Mix 08 as well as additional prizes from our sponsors.

20 Countries from all across Europe have been involved in this 1st Challenge developing the best Rich Internet Application with Microsoft Silverlight. With unlimited creativity, the entries demonstrated the true potential of this amazing technology.

The entries varied from games to multimedia tools and even real business applications, each one a unique piece.
The announcement of the challenge was received with excitement among European bloggers and the news spread very fast among the user groups via the effort of our wonderful .NET User Group Leaders, whom mobilized their members to participate in the event.

So, .... the winner with Tittle of 2008 Europe's Best Silverlight Developer is:

1st Place goes to Dejan Anevski, from Macedonia, with "Silverlight Reversi".

Following with:
2nd Place goes to Florian Kruesch, from Germany with "Silverglobe".
3rd Place goes to Radenko Zec, from Bosnia & Herzegovina, with "Silver Reader".
4th Place goes to Yann Faure, from France, with "NovaWebGen".

Winner and first and second runner-ups have won a trip to the MIX'08 and a slot to talk about their application.

User Group in Porec-Istra

My collegues Marin Mamic, Andrej Radinger and I was doing User Group presentations last nigth in Porec/Istria/Croatia, in one beautiful place called "Idila" :-).

Marin was speaking about CORE IO, Andrej about "Top 10 Windows Mobile 6 Features" and I was doing a 1h DEMO about LINQ :-).

User Group memebers was very interactive and informed, most of them endured with us late in the night (about 23h :-)).
