VS2008 Beta2 VPCs expiring prematurely - SOLUTION

Solution seamed to be obvious, but nobody could tell that it is the right one before someone tired it!

I will get you to the point: you "just" upgrade Windows Server with MSDN (or other full) license. "Just" - because it takes couple of hours to do that (depending on the speed of your computer/disks).

More on this: http://blogs.msdn.com/jeffbe/archive/2007/10/27/update-on-expiring-vs2008-beta2-vpcs.aspx

VS2008 Beta2 VPCs expiring prematurely - PROBLEM

If you are like me METRO trainer or just developer that installed Visual Studi Beta 2 and started to develop aplication in VS2008/TFS, then following information is VERY IMPORTANT for you:

http://blogs.msdn.com/jeffbe/archive/2007/10/25/vs2008-beta2-vpcs-expiring-prematurely.aspx

Quote from Microsoft:

"We recently discovered that the VPCs we distributed as part of the VS2008 Beta2 release will expire on Thursday, November 1, 2007, much earlier than we had originally expected.  Since the timeout is at the OS level, we cannot automatically extend the timeout period.  As such we are currently in the process of reissuing the VPCs and expect to make them available early next week.   In the meantime, for anyone that has stored information in TFS that they need to access moving forward, we recommend that you immediately backup the TFS databases in preparation to move them to the updated VPCs.  For information to complete these steps, please refer to the documentation on Moving Team Foundation Server.   We're still working on additional guidance to respond to this situation.  As more information becomes available, I'll post it here."

Support OpenXML - Join "Voices for Innovation"

This days I am witnessing several attempts to erase Open XML from the market by governments adopting misguided polices. I would never mind if Open XML would be just one of the standards (not the only standard) but I am against every attempt to adopt ONLY ONE standard that would favor only one platform. I think that file formats like Open XML, Open Document Format (ODF) and Portable Document Format (PDF) should be able to openly compete.

So, I am calling you to support the movement in Microsoft Community for Open XML by joining "Voices for Innovation" Community by clicking on following button: Voices for Innovation
